Role Overview

The Junior Social Media Manager supports the daily execution of Viva Voce's social media presence, creating engaging content that builds community connection, raises awareness of our movement, and helps people discover the independent brands and styles available through our size-inclusive marketplace.

Working closely with the Brand Manager, this hands-on role focuses on social content creation, publishing, community engagement, and creative support for paid social campaigns.

We're looking for someone who is creative, curious, and genuinely interested in size-inclusive fashion, representation, and storytelling. An important part of this role is helping Viva Voce remain an active and authentic participant in the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media Content Creation & Publishing

  • Create, edit, schedule, and publish social content primarily for Instagram and TikTok, repurposing Instagram content for Facebook and TikTok when appropriate.
  • Develop engaging social-first content, including Reels, TikToks, Stories, carousels, and captions that reflect Viva Voce's voice and values.
  • Manage the social content calendar in collaboration with the Brand Manager, ensuring content is reviewed and approved before publishing.
  • Create content highlighting our community, movement, partner brands, products, and marketplace offerings.
  • Repurpose existing interviews, brand stories, blogs, and other content for social media.
  • Support publishing interviews to YouTube and creating short-form cutdowns as new interview content becomes available.
  • Follow social accessibility best practices, including video captions and readable visual content.

2. Community Management & Engagement

  • Handle day-to-day community engagement across Viva Voce's social channels, including responding to comments, DMs, tags, and mentions.
  • Actively engage with relevant creators, advocates, community members, and partner brands through meaningful comments, shares, and reposts.
  • Help Viva Voce maintain an authentic presence within conversations around size-inclusive fashion, fat liberation, and representation.
  • Identify relevant community-generated content and opportunities to amplify others' voices.
  • Flag important conversations, community feedback, and potential storytelling opportunities to the Brand Manager.
  • Approach community interactions with empathy, respect, and an understanding of inclusive, non-stigmatizing language.

3. Creative Ideation

  • Participate in monthly brainstorming sessions with the Brand Manager, contributing creative content ideas, trends, and social-first concepts.
  • Identify engaging ways to feature marketplace brands, products, and styles while keeping content authentic to our community.

4. Paid Social Support

  • Create or adapt short-form videos, graphics, and other assets for paid social campaigns based on agreed priorities and creative direction.
  • Support paid social creative that builds awareness of Viva Voce's movement, encourages marketplace discovery, and helps drive sales.
  • Make creative adjustments based on feedback from the Brand Manager and the person responsible for paid media.

5. Social Performance & Insights

  • Responsible for tracking essential social media metrics, including reach, engagement, follower growth, video views, and website clicks.
  • Share performance updates and content insights with the Brand Manager and team.
  • Contribute to data-informed discussions around ways to improve social media performance.
  • Use audience feedback and content performance to inform future ideas and creative improvements.

Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years of social media, content creation, or digital marketing experience, including internships, freelance work, or relevant personal projects.
  • Strong familiarity with Instagram and TikTok and the types of content that perform on each platform.
  • Proven ability to create short-form videos and graphics using Canva, CapCut, Edits, or similar tools.
  • Strong writing skills and an ability to create engaging, conversational social copy.
  • Creative, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing deadlines and receiving feedback.
  • Interest in size-inclusive fashion, storytelling, representation, and community-building.
  • Willingness to learn about fat liberation, anti-fat bias, and inclusive language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrable interest in inclusive fashion, fat liberation, fat acceptance, and/or body justice movements.
  • Experience creating content for fashion, lifestyle, or community-driven brands.
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling tools and basic analytics.
  • Experience engaging with online communities.

Key Measures of Success

  • Consistent execution of agreed social content priorities.
